Carmen knew she was in trouble with her teacher. Normally, she’s a good student, but yesterday just wasn’t working for her. No matter what she did, it didn’t seem to work. That included her English assignment with Mrs. Wilson. She’s such a hard person to get to know.
She slept on the problem all night. She remembered a story her Mother told her about giving an apple to her teacher. She wondered, would it help with Mrs. Wilson?
She put the apple on the Teacher’s desk and thought, what’s going to happen?”
Mrs. Wilson saw her and said, “Thank you.”

Bob and his son Harvey walked down to the railroad station. It was one mile from where they lived in St. Rose Township.
Harvey said, “What’s so special about today?” His dad said, “I understand that there a special arrival today. I didn’t want you to miss out on the fun.”
“Do you remember what’s it like to do homework with cookies and milk?” His Dad said. “Boy, do I. But Mom’s gone on a trip, and we’re not going to see her for a while.” His Dad said, “Harvey open that door over there.” He did, “Dad, it’s Mom!”

When they were in the eighth grade, they played flag football. Both boys were tackles on defense and offense. Nearly everyone who met these two guys thought they were brothers.
One day, Bill said, “Hey Billy, why aren’t we brothers?” Billy said, “Because we have different moms and dads.” Bill said, What if we choose to be family.” Billy said, “I’m in; we’re family.”

Jacob was taught to help others, especially older women. His Mother said, “Older women hold a special place in our lives. They have brought our friends and neighbors into this world. They deserve our respect and help.”
The next day, Jacob was returning from an errand for his Mom when he saw an elderly woman he felt could use help. Remembering what his Mom said, he said to the woman, “Ma'am, my name is Jacob, may I help you carry those groceries?”
The woman said, “Hello, young man. How thoughtful of you. Yes, that would be very helpful. Thank you.”

Landon asked Trey, “Why do you carry that backpack with you wherever you go?”
Trey said, “When I was young, I said something awful. I said it to Dad and Mom when I was talking about school. Dad told me that the word I used was wrong. I questioned that. He introduced me to the dictionary that I carry with me all the time. It has more than 500,000 words.”
Landon asked, “OK, but what’s the point?” Trey pulled his shoulders back a bit and confidently said, “I’ll always be able to find the right word when I need it.”

Reyan loves dinosaurs. She even dreams about them. In the small town of Denoville, Ohio, lots of people talk about dinosaurs.
The town newspaper says it’s been 69 million, 953 thousand, and 581 days since a dinosaur ate someone. I personally don’t think that’s correct. Our neighbor is a really old man. He is smart, too. I asked him if he remembered when the last person was eaten. He said, “Your Dad is very smart. Ask him.”
My Dad said, “Mr. Wilson is right. Here’s something you need to remember:
I’ll always tell you the truth.
I don’t know.
